5-Gallon Margarita Recipe

The perfect margarita is all about the ratios, as too much of anything can ruin the whole concoction. The cocktail mainly consists of tequila, limes, and triple sec. This 5-gallon Margarita recipe below will serve you and your guests if you have a party.

What You'll Need:

  • 7 liters of tequila
  • 3 liters of triple sec
  • 8.51 liters of sour mix
  • A 5-gallon-sized container for storing
  • Refrigerator space for storing 5 gallons
  • Margarita salt
  • Ice
  • An instrument to mix the 5-gallon margarita

Directions:

1. Start by pouring 7 liters of tequila into a 5-gallon-sized container.

2. Add 3 liters of triple sec and 8.5 liters of sour mix to your tequila.

3. Throw in some ice and begin stirring your mixture. Ensure you mix it well until your 5-gallon cocktail is chilled.

4. To avoid having to spend time preparing the 5-gallon margarita once the crowd arrives, prepare the cocktail beforehand and store it in a fridge with space for 5 gallons.

5. When serving, rim your glasses with Margarita salt and enjoy.

Remember to adjust the proportions based on your taste preferences and the strength of the margaritas you desire. Consider using a margarita mix or other flavorings to add more variety to your large-batch margarita.

Not only are Margaritas easy to make, but they are considered the perfect cocktail as they balance four of the five human tastes and are one of the most food-friendly cocktails.

A Few Tips:

  • It is always best to use fresh limes when substituting the sour mix with lime juice.
  • Use high-quality tequila and serve margaritas in chilled glasses.
  • Ratios are fundamental when making margaritas, and pros advise only salting the outside of your glass rim to avoid salt falling into the glass.
  • To salt the rim, moisten it with a wedge of lime before dipping it into salt.
  • Garnish the glass with a lime wedge, or get creative with additional fruit slices, like oranges or berries.
