Black Sambo Recipe

  • 1 can (big) of evaporated milk
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 2 packets of unflavored gelatin (let it bloom in 1/2 cup cold water)
  • 1/2 cup of pure Dutch cocoa or Hershey's unsweetened powder (dissolved in 1/3 cup hot water)

Ingredients for the cream layer:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 packets of unflavored gelatin
  • 1 can (big) of condensed milk
  • 1 can (big) of Nestlé Cream

Instructions for the first layer:

  1. Begin by dissolving 2 packets of Knox gelatin in 1/2 cup cold water.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder with 1/3 cup hot water until smooth.
  3. Gently heat the evaporated milk in a saucepan over low heat, stir in the white sugar until fully dissolved.
  4. Add the cocoa mixture to the saucepan, stirring well. Then, incorporate the gelatin mixture, stirring continuously until completely dissolved. Remove from heat.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool, stirring occasionally, before pouring it into your chosen container. Freeze for 20 minutes, then refrigerate for 2 hours to set.

Instructions for the first layer:

  1. Heat a cup of water in a saucepan over low heat. Gradually add the gelatin, stirring vigorously until fully dissolved.
  2. Stir in the condensed milk until well blended. Finally, add the Nestlé Cream, and stir continuously until the mixture is smoothly combined. Remove from heat.
