  • 1 egg

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F, and lightly grease a large baking sheet.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and margarine in a large bowl. Whisk in one cup of buttermilk and egg.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface and form it into a round shape. Transfer the rounded dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Mix melted butter with 1/4 cup of buttermilk, then brush the buttermilk mixture over the loaf. Use a sharp knife to cut an "X" into the top of the loaf.
