While the classic macaroni and cheese, commonly known as "mac and cheese," is a favorite for many, Mike's Farm's Mac and Cheese offers a delightful twist that is a must-try for the taste buds.

Macaroni and cheese is a staple dish, and it has a long history behind it–former president Thomas Jefferson often gets credit for this dish, but it was his African-American chef James Hemmings who learned how to cook it.

There are many versions of making mac and cheese, but one restaurant stands out on social media for its delicious take—Mike's Farm. Starting as a tobacco farm, Mike's Farm evolved into a place with a gift shop, bakery, and restaurant.

Mike's Farm Mac and Cheese is a timeless comfort dish, seamlessly melding macaroni and cheese into a delectable culinary experience. This dish, with a creamy and cheesy flavor, is widely popular among children and adults. The combination of mayo, cheddar cheese, and mozzarella creates a rich taste balanced by the slight tanginess of sour cream.

Salt and pepper enhance the flavors even more, while a touch of cayenne pepper adds a subtle kick to make it a flavorful and enjoyable dish. Instead of opting for the powdered cheese version, you may find preparing this dish from scratch more rewarding.

While there are countless mac and cheese recipes featuring different serving sizes, the universal appeal of this dish is evident, whether served in small or large bowls.

In this easy-to-make dish, the spotlight shines not only on the familiar macaroni but also on the starring duo of mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Here's the recipe:

  • 1 3/4 cup macaroni
  • 1 cup Duke's mayo
  • 2 cups cheddar, sharp
  • 2 cup mozzarella
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Boil the macaroni in salted water for 6 minutes or as per package instructions. Then drain the macaroni and set it aside.
  3. Combine mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese mixture, stirring thoroughly, then transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  5. Bake the mac and cheese for 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove the dish from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve.

For storing leftovers, use an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator, where it will stay fresh for up to four days. When reheating, either bake it in an oven-safe dish at 350°F for about 10 minutes or opt for a faster microwave option for individual portions.
