Thanks to social media and the seamless flow of information in the modern age, more and more new takes on staple dishes around the world are popping up on social media, and that was the case for the famous lasagna, with the trending Salmon Lasagne Rolls.

While it's difficult to trace when or where Salmon Lasagne Rolls originated or who masterminded the recipe, it's become evident that the warm and cheesy seafood dish has taken social media, namely TikTok, by storm.

While Salmon Lasagne Rolls are another variant of the classic lasagna — originating from Naples during the Middle Ages —there is a distinction between lasagne and lasagna.

Lasagna is the Italian-American term used to describe the saucy dish. However, lasagne refers to the noodles themselves used in the dish, in plural form.

However, the spelling is not the only difference between them. Unlike lasagna, Salmon Lasagne Rolls will have you spending less time in the kitchen but enjoying the meal just as much. Read further for the perfect recipe for Salmon Lasagne Rolls.

Salmon Lasagne Rolls Recipe

Ingredients:

  • lasagne sheets
  • 200 g salmon
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • cajun seasoning
  • black pepper
  • paprika
  • 1 stick of butter
  • garlic
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 bag of parmesan cheese
  • spinach
  • cheese
  • parsley
  • chives
  • ricotta cheese
  • cream cheese
  • chopped jalapenos (optional — for a spicy kick)

Directions:

1. Boil your lasagna sheets — the number of sheets depends on how many lasagne rolls you want to make.

2. Season your salmon on both sides with a generous sprinkle of garlic powder, onion powder, cajun seasoning, black pepper, and paprika.

3. Place the fish in a pan to fry. Salmon has a fast preparation time, so you'll only need to fry it for about five minutes on both sides before it forms a delicious crispy coat while maintaining the perfect shade of a soft pink/orange inside.

4. Get started on your Alfredo sauce, which you will later pour over your cooked lasagne rolls. In a frying pan, saute finely chopped garlic in a stick of melted butter before adding 1 1/2 cups of heavy cream and one bag of parmesan cheese and seasoning it with the same spices you used for your salmon.

5. Once you've whisked your Alfredo sauce to a thick and creamy consistency, add a handful of spinach and allow to cook.

6. In a separate bowl, add ricotta cheese, cream cheese, chives, parsley, and chopped jalapenos (if you like a little spice). Mix the contents of the bowl and set aside.

7. Once your lasagne sheets have been cooked, place them down one by one in a baking tray, then generously layer each sheet with your ricotta cream cheese mix before shredding your salmon and adding it on top of the ricotta cream cheese mix.

8. Slowly roll the lasagne sheet until you have a baking tray of however many salmon lasagna rolls you want.

10. Cover your baking tray with tin foil before sliding it into the oven for the cheese to melt. In a few minutes, you should pull out a bubbly, cheesy, mouth-watering tray of Salmon Lasagne Rolls.
