Del Frisco's Butter Cake Recipe

Equipment:

  • 1 mini springform pan or a regular cake pan
  • 1 medium bowl
  • 1 separate bowl
  • 1 spatula
  • electronic mixer

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • butter pecan ice cream (optional topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease the mini springform pans or a regular cake pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Mix the all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  3. Prepare the butter mixture. Mix the melted butter and granulated sugar in a separate bowl using an electric mixer until fully dissolved. Next, add the eggs one at a time, ensuring thorough mixing after each addition. Finally, add and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the mixed dry ingredients—all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda— to the butter mixture while alternating with the milk. Mix until they are all thoroughly combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter, which could result in a tough cake texture.
  5. Pour the cake batter into the prepared mini springform pans or regular cake pan. Spread it evenly using a spatula. If using a mini springform pan, bake the cake for 15-20 minutes, and for a regular pan, bake for 30-35 minutes. Bake until the top is golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool slightly in the pans on a wire rack.
  6. Remove the cake from the pans once they are slightly cooled. Serve it warm with a scoop of butter pecan ice cream if desired.

While Del Frisco's butter cake features butter pecan ice cream, feel free to customize it to suit your taste preferences. If butter pecan doesn't tickle your fancy, consider alternatives like salted caramel or classic vanilla ice cream.

Serve this dessert at a special meal, a gathering of friends, or to finish off a lovely family dinner. When storing this dessert, wrap the cake tightly and store it in the freezer for up to three months. Make every moment sweet with this versatile butter cake!
